Woman sought over violent break-in

NSW Police are appealing for information after an 80-year-old man was injured during an aggravated break and enter in the state’s north yesterday.

Police say that at around 9pm on Tuesday, emergency services were called to a home on Alice Street in Moree, following reports of an aggravated break and enter.

“Officers attached to New England Police District were told that a woman forced entry to the home, before confronting the occupant – a 80-year-old man – demanding cash,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“The woman threw a bottle at the man’s head before fleeing, stealing the man’s mobile phone and wallet.”

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Moree Hospital as a precaution.

“As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to a woman that may be able to assist them,” Police said

The woman is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged between 18-25, 165cm tall with brown hair and blonde streaks. She was wearing dark coloured leggings at the time.

Police are urging anyone who may have either dashcam footage or CCTV from the area or who may have information which could assist detectives to contact Moree Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
