A man has been charged over the alleged fatal stabbing of an elderly woman in Sydney’s east yesterday.
In a statement, NSW Police said that at around 5.15pm on Saturday, emergency services were called to a unit on Chambers Avenue, Bondi Beach, following reports of a stabbing.
Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended and found a 90-year-old woman with significant injuries to her torso.
“She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, died at the scene,” NSW Police said.
“A 47-year-old man – known to the 90-year-old woman – was arrested at the home and taken to Surry Hills Police Station.
“Police established a crime scene, and detectives commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
Following inquiries, police charged the 47-year-old man with murder (DV).
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Local Court 6 today.
