A 38-year-old man has been charged over the alleged assault and robbery of a man aged in his 80s in Broken Hill on the weekend.
In a statement, NSW Police said that at around 2pm on Sunday, September 13th, emergency services were called to a home on Argent Street in Broken Hill following reports a man had been assaulted and robbed.
“Officers attached to Barrier Police District arrived and found a man in his 80s with serious assault injuries,” NSW Police said.
“NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man before he was taken to Broken Hill Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment of head injuries and fractured ribs.
“Police were told a man – known to the older man – had allegedly demanded money and threatened him with a knife before assaulted him and stealing an amount of cash.”
Following extensive inquiries, officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District arrested a 38-year-old man at a motel on Victoria Street, Dubbo, yesterday.
During a search of the motel room, police seized several items of clothing and a mobile phone.
The man was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon cause wounding/grievous bodily harm, take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage cause actual bodily harm, and cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.
He was refused bail to face Bail Division Court 4 today.
