A 49-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly setting another passenger’s hair on fire on a bus in the northern suburbs in June.
Police say the woman set fire to the hair of a teenage girl on a bus travelling on Heytesbury Road, Davoren Park just before 4pm on Monday June 29 in what was an unprovoked attack.
The victim received minor burns to her scalp as a result of the woman’s actions.
SAPOL’s Public Transport Safety Section launched an extensive investigation to identify and track down the unknown woman and appealed to the public for assistance.
Yesterday, a 49-year-old Davoren Park woman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault cause harm and was issued with a three-month public transport ban.
She was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on December 3.
