Rock fisherman drowns at Dee Why

A 59-year-old rock fisherman has died after he being pulled from the water on Sydney’s Northern Beaches this afternoon.

Police say that at around 2.50pm, emergency services were called to Dee Why Beach following reports a man was in trouble in the water.

“The 59-year-old man was assisted by surfers and was pulled from the water by Surf Lifesaving NSW at the southern end of the beach,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“NSW Ambulance paramedics performed CPR on the unresponsive man, however, he died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.”

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended and will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
