A 60-year-old man has been charged after an 85-year-old woman was found unconscious in an East Ryde home overnight.
Police said that at around 8:30pm, emergency services were called to a home on Bronhill Avenue where they located the woman in an unconscious state.
The woman was taken by paramedics to Royal North Shore Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
Officers from Ryde Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced investigations.
“A 60-year-old man was arrested at the home. The man – who is known to the woman – was taken to Ryde Police Station,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“He has since been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today.”
