1.5 tonne trailer collapses on man

A 56-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after suffering serious injuries when the axle of a 1.5 tonne trailer collapsed on him on a rural property this afternoon.

In a statement, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter team said that just before 2.30pm today, the crew were tasked to attend Warrumbungle, west of Coonabarabran after reports the axle of a 1.5 tonne trailer that the male was working on had collapsed.

“Local Ambulance Paramedics arrived on scene and commenced treatment of the male prior to the arrival of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Critical Care Medical Team,” the rescue team said.

“Upon arrival the Critical Care Medical Team assisted in the treatment before stabilising the male prior to being flown direct to the John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle suffering back and rip injuries.”
