Woman charged with murder over bizarre road crash death

Police have charged a 29-year-old woman with the murder of a 62-year-old Tewantin man following extensive investigations after a bizarre road crash incident in Buderim last year.

Police say the 62-year-old was struck by a vehicle while walking with a 29-year-old woman on Stringybark Road around 2am on Saturday, May 16.

The man died shortly after arriving at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

“Following forensic investigations, police have charged the 29-year-old woman with one count of murder,” Queensland Police said in a statement this afternoon.

“It will be alleged the woman stabbed the man before he was struck by the vehicle.

“The driver of the vehicle was not connected with the initial incident.”

The woman appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on March 31 where she was remanded in custody to reappear in the same court on May 21.
