Victoria records drop in cases as Premier shuffles cabinet roles

Victoria has recorded 1,466 new locally-acquired cases of COVID-19 and eight deaths in the past 24 hours – 146 fewer cases than yesterday.

Vic Health has not yet revealed how many cases are linked to known outbreaks in the state.

There are now 19,627 active cases of coronavirus across Victoria. The state recorded 68,509 coronavirus tests yesterday.

Meanwhile, Victorian Premier Dan Andrews has this morning unveiled his new team after the resignation of Minister Luke Donnellan yesterday amid allegations aired during IBAC anti-corruption hearings.

Deputy Premier James Merlino will take over Mr Donnellan’s disability, ageing and carers portfolio, while Minister Richard Wynne has been given the child protection portfolio.

Both ministers were sworn in last night.
