Police hunt for hit-and-run driver

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have released CCTV footage of a driver they believe could assist with an investigation into a hit-and-run collision that has left a 60-year-old man in a critical condition.

Police say they located a scooter rider unresponsive at the intersection of Healesville-Koo Wee Rup and Ballarto roads in Pakenham South just before 7pm on February 9.

“It is believed the scooter was travelling south on Koo Wee Rup Road when it was struck by a yet to be identified vehicle that failed to stop at the scene,” Victoria Police said in a statement today.

“A 60-year-old Pakenham man was taken to hospital in a critical condition where he remains.

“Extensive investigations have since taken place and police have spoken with a number of drivers who were in the vicinity at the time of the incident.”

Detectives are releasing footage of a white Toyota HiLux in the hope that the driver will come forward as police believe he may have witnessed the collision.

Police are appealing for the driver, anyone else who witnessed the collision, or anyone with dashcam footage or other information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
