Pedestrian hit and killed by ute

A 60-year-old man has died after being hit by a ute in Wagga Wagga today.

Police say the man was struck by the vehicle just after 4.30pm on Pearson Street, near Downey Avenue.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, where tragically he later died.

The driver, a 27-year-old man, was not injured in the collision. He was also taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Officers from Riverina Police District attended the accident and established a crime scene which will be examined by specialist forensic officers.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam vision to come forward.
