A Gold Coast grandfather’s online program that takes kids around the globe via a virtual musical band is set to help young minds to explore the world from their own backyard.
Robina Odyssey Lifestyle Care Communities’ very own Dr Charles Margerison is set to ignite wanderlust among the younger generation with the launch of an online educational resource aimed at kids aged between six and 12 years old.
Children from Little Scholars visited Odyssey today to enjoy the curriculum-aligned program that is designed to inspire students to explore the world by following a virtual band around the globe and adopting a ‘can do’ attitude.

Odyssey resident, Dr Charles Margerison, who is a psychologist by profession says the aim of the Can Do Kids Band is to help students learn about countries, cultures and communities.
“Our resource allows students to step outside the classroom into a virtual world where their natural born curiosity around travel can begin,” says Dr Margerison.
“We inspire students with the ‘can do’ spirit that is essential for success and can be embedded into classrooms around the world to promote online learning and teach kids to embrace new experiences and pursue opportunities.”
The interactive online resource enables students to gain an understanding and appreciation of the factual, social and cultural aspects of a country when they join the Can Do Kids Band on their ‘Follow the music and learn’ world tour.

Odyssey Founder and CEO, Phil Usher says the team are always looking for opportunities to support their residents and the wider community.
“We’re all about facilitating and seeing that our residents live their best lives, so supporting
initiatives such as this provide us with an ideal opportunity to do just that,” says Mr Usher.
“It’s always a good day when the Little Scholars visit, our residents get so excited, which makes it all the more wonderful that we can help launch a creative and unique program like Can Do Kids Band.”
Founder and Managing Director of Little Scholars, Jae Fraser says intergenerational initiatives such as this provide a positive experience for both the young and old.
“Children having interactions with people who are one or even two generations older than themselves can be extremely meaningful and provide a deeper understanding of the world around them,” says Mr Fraser.

“Not to mention seeing how impactful these interactions are on the older generation.”
Dr Margerison is the founder of Amazing People Worldwide and Amazing People Schools and has written a wide range of books on business and educational issues.
