The Victorian Seniors Festival continues its vibrant program of activities throughout October, with Benalla Rural City Council offering an array of opportunities for seniors to connect, create and explore.
The Council has collaborated with the Victorian Government, local businesses, and community organisations to deliver a vibrant program, including social games, history tours, tech sessions, multicultural events and outdoor adventures.
Mayor, Bernie Hearn said the festival featured mostly free or low-cost events designed to foster connection, creativity, and active ageing.
“I encourage all interested senior (60+) community members to take part and discover new interests, connect with fellow community members, and redefine what it means to age,” Cr Hearn said.
“The Victorian Seniors Festival is all about celebrating life, learning, and healthy, engaged living.
“Whether you’re exploring local history, testing your skills at mah-jong, enjoying a high tea, or moving to the rhythm of Tai Chi, there is an experience waiting for you.”
Last week, as part of the 2025 Victorian Seniors Festival, more than 20 local residents enjoyed a full day exploring the Benalla Rural City Art Trail (pictured, above).
Travelling in comfort by bus, the group took in the region’s stunning silo art and local exhibitions, discovering the creativity and talent across our community. The tour included visits to the charming towns of Devenish, Goorambat, and St James, where participants admired incredible artworks, shared stories, and connected with fellow art enthusiasts.
The day concluded with a delicious lunch at the Park Street Pantry in Goorambat.
“Benalla Rural City Council thanks everyone who joined the tour — it was wonderful to see our community come together to celebrate creativity, local talent, and the joy of exploring our region,” the Council said in a statement.
This event is just one of more than 40 free or low-cost activities taking place throughout October as part of the Benalla Seniors Festival – celebrating connection, learning, and community spirit.
