Flood warning issued for Toowoomba

Toowoomba Regional Council is advising residents to be careful on the roads and avoid driving through flood water after heavy downpours this afternoon.

TRC Infrastructure Services Committee Chair, Councillor Carol Taylor said heavy rain which fell across Toowoomba city today has seen water flowing across, and closing, some roads.

“Please do not drive through flooded roads,” Cr Taylor said. “Remember, If it’s flooded, forget it.

“Council crews are monitoring city roads and will be out for several hours this evening.

“The city’s flood mitigation systems are working as intended. The creek systems have mostly stayed in the channels.

“Summer storms can dump heavy rain anytime, and residents are advised to heed weather warnings and stay safe.”
