Woman critical following Mummulgum crash

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has airlifted a 60-year-old woman to hospital from a crash on the Bruxner Highway west of Mummulgum today.

Crews say the woman suffered serious leg, pelvic and chest injuries in the collision between a car and truck around 1.30pm today.

The woman, who was the driver of the car, was trapped in the vehicle until emergency crews arrived on the scene and extracted her an hour later.

Due to the nature of injuries, the Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team placed the 60-year-old into an induced coma before being flown direct to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

The drive and sole occupant of the truck received minor injuries and was assessed on scene by Ambulance Paramedics.
