Woman, 50, arrested twice in 24 hours

A 50-year-old woman has been arrested twice in 24hrs for drug and traffic offences.

Police say that at around 9:30am on Tuesday, officers from North Shore Highway Patrol stopped a silver Toyota Corolla on Harris Street, Willoughby.

“Checks revealed that the driver’s licence was suspdended due to excess demerit points,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Police had reason to search the vehicle and located a bottle of liquid beleived to be GHB.

“Police caught the driver attempting to dispose of a small resealable plastic bag containing a granular substance believed to be methamphetamine. Police submitted the driver to a roadside drug test which returned a positive result for methamphetamine.”

The driver was arrested and taken to Chatswood Police Station where she submitted a secondary oral fluid test which returned a positive result to methamphetamine.

The female was subsequently charged with drive whilst licence suspended, supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.

“Further action will be taken upon receipt of the lab result from the oral fluid test,” police said.

Shortly before 10am the following day, police from North Shore Highway Patrol were again patrolling the Willoughby area when the same female driver drove past in the same silver Toyota Corolla.

Police stopped the vehicle and the driver was once again arrested for driving with a suspended licence.

“The driver was then submitted to a roadside drug test which again returned a positive result for methamphetamine,” police said.

“The driver and her vehicle were thouroughly searched where Police located portable scales, numerous small resealable plastic bags and other drug implements.”

The driver was charged with drive whilst licence suspended.

The driver was released from Police custody with strict bail conditions.
