Two men face 70+ drug charges after early morning Police raid

Two men – aged 55 and 36 – have been charged with more than 70 drug offences following an early morning raid by NSW Police in the Hume region yesterday.

In April, officers attached to The Hume Police District established Strike Force Luccarda to investigate the distribution of methylamphetamine in the Southern Highlands.

“Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives – with assistance from the Public Order Riot Squad – executed a search warrant at a home in Moss Vale yesterday,” NSW Police said in a statement.

During the early morning search, police seized methylamphetamine, cannabis, cash, electronic scales, a mobile phone and an extendable baton.

“Shortly after, a second search warrant was executed at a home in Moss Vale, where police seized cannabis, a mobile phone and other electronic devices.”

Two men – aged 36 and 55 – were arrested during the operation and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station.

The 36-year-old man was charged with 60 offences, including 55 counts of supply prohibited drug, ongoing supply of prohibited drug, conduct drug premises, possess prohibited drug, deal with proceeds of crime, and possess prohibited weapon.

The 55-year-old man was charged with 10 counts of supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.

Both men appeared in Picton Local Court yesterday, where they were formally refused bail to appear in Moss Vale Local Court on September 8.

Investigations under Strike Force Luccarda are continuing and further arrests are expected.
