Teen arrested over 68-year-old cyclist hit-and-run

Queensland Police have arrested a man following a hit and run traffic crash at Tallebudgera this morning.

Police were called at 6am after a passing motorist located a 68-year-old male cyclist unconscious at the intersection of Dungogie Drive and Tallebudgera Connection Road.

“Officers attended the scene where they located the man suffering life-threatening internal and head injuries,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

“It will be alleged that the cyclist was hit by a vehicle, which did not remain at the scene.”

An 18-year-old man voluntarily attended the Palm Beach Police Station around 8am and was subsequently arrested.

A white Toyota dual cab utility has been seized at Worongary.

All roads near the crash site are now reopened. The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
