A 66-year-old woman has died after being found unresponsive in the water at beach near Kiama on the state’s south coast yesterday.
Police say that at about 9.10am on Saturday, emergency services were called to an unpatrolled part of Werri Beach, Gerringong, after a woman was pulled unconscious from the surf.
Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District arrived to find members of the public and local surf club conducting CPR before NSW Ambulance paramedics took over.
“The woman was unable to be revived and died at the scene,” NSW Police said in a statement.
