A group of dedicated Queensland State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers have been honoured for their ongoing commitment at a Regional Award Ceremony in Roma over the weekend.
The awards recognise the long and diligent service of members who support and protect the community in times of emergency or natural disaster.
Four volunteers were presented with the SES National Medal, which is awarded to people with 15 years of continuous service with the SES, with clasps awarded every ten years afterward.
Thirty-four volunteers were also awarded the Meritorious State Medal. This award recognises volunteer members of SES Queensland who have more than 10 years of dedicated service, with clasps presented for each additional five years.

Julianne Everson was amongst those honoured at the ceremony, receiving the prestigious Regional Member of the Year award for her overall distinguished service throughout 2024.
Ms Everson joined the Roma SES group in 2018 and became a group leader in 2019, supporting the community and her volunteers through disaster management, preparedness and operations.
Reflecting on her achievement, Ms Everson outlined the importance for the recognition for volunteers who give up their time to keep their communities informed and safe.
“I am incredibly honoured to receive this award and am so thankful to be recognised in such a momentous way,” she said.
“When I consider the people I work with, any one of them could be standing here.

“SES has some of the most dedicated and passionate volunteers I have ever seen, and I thank them and the community for their support,” she said.
