Police hunt for train attacker

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a 51-year-old man was assaulted in an unprovoked attack on a train between Frankston and Kananook railway stations in March.

Police have been told the victim boarded the city bound train at Frankston on Sunday, March 28, before he was approached by another man at about 1.50am.

“The 51-year-old victim was then assaulted by the other commuter while the train was in motion before getting off the train at Kananook railway station,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

“As a result of the unprovoked attack, the victim received serious facial injuries that were treated in hospital.”

Investigators have released images and vision of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The male (pictured) is Caucasian, in his early 20’s, with short brown hair and was wearing a white and black hoodie, grey pants and white shoes
