Police hunt continues for diamond ring thief

CCTV has been released as police continue to investigate the theft of jewellery from a store on Sydney’s Northern Beaches last year.

Police say that at around 11.40am on Monday, October 12, 2020, a man entered a jewellery store inside a shopping complex on Pittwater Road, Brookvale, and spoke with the shop attendant, a 58-year-old woman.

After requesting to inspect some of the items, police have been told the man snatched a pear-shaped, 18 carat yellow gold diamond ring from the woman and fled the store.

“The attendant was shaken but not injured during the incident,” NSW Police said in a statement today.

“As inquiries continue, police have released CCTV of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.”

He’s described as being of Caucasian appearance, in his late 30s to early 40s, about 180cm tall, and was wearing a beige baseball cap, face mask, red and black sleeve checked shirt, dark jeans and grey sneakers at the time. He has long blond hair which may have been a wig.

Anyone with information should contact Northern Beaches detectives on (02) 9976 8099 or Crime Stoppers.
