Police appeal for witnesses to Bahrs Scrub blaze

Queensland Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-camera footage as part of the investigation into a suspicious house fire at Bahrs Scrub yesterday.

Police say preliminary investigations indicate that shortly before 5pm, a man wearing a high-vis shirt, black hooded jumper and sunglasses was walking along Menora Road, before entering the yard of a unoccupied dwelling on Wuraga Road.

A short time later, a fire started in the front of the dwelling.

“Emergency services were notified just after 5pm and attended the scene, where fire-fighters quickly extinguished the blaze,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

The house was extensively damaged as a result of the blaze.

Police are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed something suspicious – or anyone who may have captured dash-camera footage – in the vicinity of Menora Road and Wuraga Road at Bahrs Scrub between 4pm and 5.15pm yesterday, to come forward.
