Grant funding for initiatives that recognise and celebrate older Western Australians during WA Seniors Week 2026 are now available.
The Seniors Week Community Grants Program focuses on initiatives that recognise and celebrate older Western Australians for their contribution to the community offering activities that encourage active and age-friendly living.
It is open to local governments, registered not-for-profit organisations, and community groups across Western Australia to celebrate Seniors Week, which runs from 8-15 November 2026.
Grants of $1000, or up to $3,000 for consortiums, can be used to meet event-related costs such as advertising and promotion, catering, venue and equipment hire, and transport.
“The grants provide community groups across Western Australia the opportunity to design, plan, implement, and evaluate local activities that connect seniors with their community,” said Aged Care and Seniors Minister, Simone McGurk.
“Seniors Week celebrates the important role of older Western Australians in our communities, encouraging participation in activities within communities across the State.
“Nominations are now open for the WA Seniors Awards, which acknowledges and celebrates the contributions of exceptional seniors and people supporting older Western Australians.”
Additionally, nominations for the WA Seniors Awards 2026 can be made by organisations or individual members of the public. The WA Seniors Awards acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of exceptional older people and those who support older Western Australians.
This year there are five categories: WA Senior of the Year – Metropolitan; WA Senior of the Year – Regional; WA Age Friendly Business or Organisation of the Year; WA Age Friendly Local Government of the Year, and WA Seniors Advocate of the Year.
