Queensland Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery in Pelican Waters yesterday, which saw a 59-year-old female driver threatened with a firearm before having her car keys stolen.
Police say that at approximately 6.30am on Tuesday, a Jaguar was travelling north along Bledisloe Boulevard when the driver, a 59-year-old Pelican Waters woman, was approached by a male armed with what appeared to be a firearm.
“The male demanded the vehicle before the woman left the scene with her car keys. She was not physically injured. The male was unable to start the car and left the scene in a stolen Audi SQ5,” Police said in a statement.
Police and POLAIR tracked the vehicle as it drove dangerously through parts of Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast before losing track of it.
“The Audi was located abandoned this morning along Eliza Street in Clayfield, after it crashed into a pole on Alma Road around 2.40am. A gel-blaster was located inside the vehicle,” Police said.
Police believe the Audi was stolen from property along Gordons Crossing in Joyner on Monday, June 10.
“No one is currently in custody and investigations are continuing,” said Police.
Anyone with information that may assist with investigations is urged to contact police.
