Morya man, 84, attacked and robbed

An investigation is underway after an 84-year-old man was assaulted and his vehicle stolen in the state’s south.

Police say that just after 2.20pm yesterday, emergency services were called to a carpark on Vulcan Street, in Moruya, after reports of an assault.

“Police have been told an 84-year-old man was in the carpark when he was approached by an unknown male who knocked him to the ground and stole his car keys, before fleeing the scene in the man’s vehicle,” NSW Police said in a statement.

The vehicle stolen from the man is a 2001 Holden Commodore, bronze in colour and has NSW registration plates: ATZ 12F.

“The man was treated at the scene for knee and arm injuries, before being taken to Moruya Hospital in a stable condition. Officers from South Coast Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” police said.

The male attacker is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall and of solid build.
