Queensland Police have charged a man after reports of shots allegedly being fired inside a house at Ripley yesterday afternoon, narrowly missing the home’s 71-year-old occupant.
Police say their initial investigations indicate that at around 1.25pm on Monday, two males arrived at the Ripley Road residence in a white Mitsubishi Magna and a blue motorcycle and have entered the house. Â
“A 71-year-old male occupant has challenged the men at which time it is alleged one of the men has produced a firearm and discharged it in the direction of the victim who was not struck,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“The confrontation has continued, and the elderly man was allegedly physically assaulted. The men have fled the scene in the car and on the motorcycle.”
The 71-year-old man was transport to hospital where he was treated for an injury to his arm.
Later that day around 4pm, Police intercepted a vehicle in Bundamba and arrested a 27-year-old Bundamba man.Â
He has been charged with two counts of burglary and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, serious assault, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving whilst disqualified.
He is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
