A 71-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being viciously assaulted at his Northgate home last night.
Police say an 18-year-old man forced his way into the man’s unit on Allworth Street around 7pm on Tuesday.
“It is further alleged that he then assaulted the 71-year-old male resident, striking him multiple times to the head and body before fleeing to a nearby unit,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“Police attended a short time later and arrested the 18-year-old man.”
The 71-year-old man suffered serious head injuries and was transported to hospital in a critical condition.
An 18-year-old Caboolture man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and enter dwelling with intent by break.
He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
