Man, 65, arrested over pig attacks

A 65-year-old man has been arrested following the graffiti vandalism of the Rundle Mall pigs last week.

South Australia Police say the damage was caused overnight between Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 September.

Police and the Adelaide City Council were notified later that day and commenced an investigation. The substance used in the vandalism caused extensive corrosive damage to the four well-known pigs named Horatio, Oliver, Truffles and Augusta.

Just after 4.30pm yesterday, Police say the alleged suspect was spotted on CCTV cameras in Rundle Mall, Adelaide, with officers quickly swooping on the 65-year-old man and placing him under arrest.

The Huntfield Heights man was charged with property damage and bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 8 January.
