Queensland Police detectives have today charged 72-year-old Keith Lees with the 1997 murder of his defacto partner, Meaghan Louise Rose.
Mr Lees was arrested by Crime and Intelligence Command Cold Case Investigation Team officers in NSW on January 2nd by virtue of a Queensland arrest warrant, with detectives successfully applying for his extradition to Queensland today.
The 72-year-old has been charged with murder and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
“Police continue their appeal for information and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“A $500,000 reward remains on offer for information that leads to the conviction of the person, or persons, found to be responsible for Meaghan’s murder.
“In addition to the reward, an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information,” Police said.
