Beerwah police are investigating a bizarre incident at Landborough this morning that saw the driver of a crashed stolen Jaguar go on to steal the car of a good samaritan who came to his aid.
Police say their initial investigations indicate that a white Jaguar reported stolen from Worongary later lost control on Steve Irwin Way just after 9am, before colliding with a tree at Landsborough.
“Several members of the public, including a man in his 60s, stopped to assist the male driver from the vehicle,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“The driver has then proceeded to get into the man’s maroon Mazda CX-5 and take off northbound on Steve Irwin Way.
“The driver is described as male and aged between 18 and 30.”
Anyone with information, relevant CCTV or dashcam footage in the area at the time depicting the incident or a white Jaguar and maroon Mazda CX-5 is urged to contact police.
