Driver, 68, more than four times over limit

Police have impounded the car of a 68-year-old man caught driving at more than four times the legal alcohol limit.

Victoria Police’s Heavy Vehicle Unit members say they were shocked by the Campbellfield man’s breath analysis result.

“Police were patrolling the Hume Highway about 9.45am on 14 January when they intercepted a grey Volvo SUV,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

“The 68-year-old driver returned a positive breath test and was conveyed to Broadmeadows Police Station where he returned a reading of 0.201.”

The driver was also found to have a cancelled Victorian Driver’s Licence.

“His car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1,042,” police said.

“The driver is expected to be charged on summons in relation to drink driving and being unlicensed.”
