Officers from Maryborough Highway Patrol were conducting patrols along Kent Street on Tuesday when their attention was drawn to a wheely interesting vehicle.
As the photo shows, officers spotted the driver of the six-wheel drive attempting a very unique and dangerous transportation method.
“The driver, a 30-year-old Maryborough man is to alleged to have been driving the vehicle with his left hand and was holding the bicycle outside of the driver’s window, wheeling it along as he drove along Kent Street,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
After speaking to police, the driver was issued with a traffic infringement notice.
Sergeant Josh Churchward, officer in charge of Maryborough Highway Patrol said that this choice, even over a short distance, could have resulted in potentially devastating consequences.
“Driving is something that requires your full attention and you should take all necessary care at all times,” Sergeant Churchward said.
“We’re glad nobody was hurt in this instance, but we do want to remind everyone that road safety is everyone’s responsibility. Something like this not only puts yourself at risk, but other road users too.
“Drive safely and expect police anywhere, anytime.”
