Police believe man lay dead in home for more than 12 months

Detectives from Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch and Homicide Investigation Unit have released photos of Tomislav Nemes, who was located deceased at a Benowa home in April, in an appeal for information in relation to his death.

On April 17th, Queensland Police were called to conduct a welfare check by interstate relatives at an Edinburgh Road home, where they located the remains of 69-year-old Mr Nemes.

A crime scene was declared and Operation Victor Countryside established to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

While scientific examinations remain ongoing to determine his cause of death, it is being treated as suspicious, Police said in a statement today.

“Initial enquiries indicate Mr Nemes may have been deceased at the address for more than 12 months,” said Police.

Tomislav Nemes was originally from the Australian Capital Territory, and moved to Queensland in 2018.

Detectives are appealing to his friends, family and associates from both ACT and Queensland, who may have been in contact with Mr Nemes in recent years, to come forward.

Police have also released an image of his home on Edinburgh Road, and urge anyone who may have attended the property in recent years to contact police.
