Catching the sunrise for a brighter day

If you’re a fan of sunrises, then a new photographic exhibition at Gosford Hospital will be an event you are going to love to wake up to.

From tomorrow until 5 November, the hospital is displaying an exhibition called, Cloud 9 – a beautiful and inspirational series of photographs by local artist Richard O’Farrell.

Over three years Richard visited the beach every morning and photographed the clouds just before a surf – the resulting images now part of the Cloud 9 exhibition.

Richard says he used the daily photographic opportunity as a method for coping with mental health issues.

“The photographs represent the creation of an ongoing positive routine to start the day, every day,” he said.

Cloud 9 explores the ever-changing nature of our environment, each day you may see something different.

“The same can be applied to life, each day you may do or experience something you never have before. It also encourages the viewer to see that something beautiful and positive can often be found when one is looking up.”

The exhibition is being held to acknowledge Mental Health Month during October, a national month of awareness to promote the importance of good mental health during our day-to-day lives.

Cloud 9 will be on display at the Gosford Hospital Wednesday 2 September – Thursday 5 November 2020.
