Northern Territory Police Force have arrested and charged a 30-year-old woman over a series of alleged thefts from elderly patients at Alice Springs Hospital.
Police say that between November 2024 and December 2025, the woman attended the Alice Springs Hospital and stole personal belonging of elderly victims recovering from serious surgical and medical interventions.
“One victim passed away shortly after the offending occurred,” Police said in a statement.
“The offender was not known to the victims.”
On 27 December, members from Strike Force Viper attended the Alice Springs Hospital and arrested the woman. She has since been charged with seven counts of theft and 13 counts of obtain benefit by deception.
She has been remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.
“This is horrible offending that targeted the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Acting Superintendent Deanne Ward.
“Police have been investigating this for a number of days, and we believe there are more victims.
“We urge anyone who has had property stolen during a visit to the hospital, particularly in recent days, to make a police report via 131 444 or by attending their local police station.”
