NSW Police have established a strike force to investigate the death of a 66-year-old woman whose body was found in a home unit in Maroubra yesterday.
Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command were called Astoria Circuit shortly before midday yesterday, where they discovered the woman’s body.
A 50-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Maroubra Police Station.
“The woman’s death is being treated as suspicious, and Strike Force Nain has been formed to investigate,” NSW Police announced today in a statement.
“It comprises detectives from Eastern Beaches PAC, assisted by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
“Following inquiries, that man has been charged with breaching an enforceable Apprehended Violence Order (AVO); however, this is not connected to the current investigation.”
He has been refused bail overnight and will appear in Waverley Local Court later today.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted later today to determine the cause of death, and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
