An elderly man has been arrested and a police operation is underway after a woman was allegedly stabbed in a shopping centre in Blacktown this morning.
In a statement, NSW Police said that at around 10am today, emergency services were called to Westpoint on Patrick Street in Blacktown, following reports of an armed offender.
“Officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command attended and were told a woman had been allegedly stabbed multiple times,” NSW Police setated.
“A 79-year-old woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.
“A 93-year-old man – believed to be known to the woman – was arrested nearby and taken to Blacktown Police Station where inquiries are ongoing.”
A crime scene has been established to be examined by specialist police.
