Relay For Life West Coast is the new flagship event for Relay For Life in WA, bringing Relayers from across Perth together to celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer.
The event is scheduled to be held from Saturday 23 October to Sunday 24 October.
“To mark the launch of this exciting milestone for Relay, we’ll be holding the event at Kings Park. This will be the FIRST EVER overnight event held at these iconic grounds,” Relay for Life West Coast said in a statement today.
“So if you’ve ever wanted to camp under the stars at these picturesque grounds, now is your time to do just that by registering for Relay For Life West Coast.“
How you decide to get involved is completely up to you! Here are a few fun ways you can take part in Relay For Life West Coast:
Sign up a team
Help raise funds to fight back against cancer by registering a team. The money your team raises is vital and will help fund life-saving cancer research, run advocacy and prevention programs, and ensure vital support is available when it’s needed most.
Be a volunteer
Volunteers are the key to bringing Relay For Life events together for the community. Without them, Relay simply wouldn’t be possible.
Our Relay For Life West Coast Event Leadership Team is currently looking for volunteers to assist with the following areas:
- Bump in/set up (Thursday and Friday)
- Ground and venue set up/HOPE lights/sign set up
- Parking traffic control
- Administration
- Registrations/candle bag sales/decorations
- Meet and greet teams and survivors
- Survivor and carer’s afternoon tea/tea and coffee station (24h)/breakfast service
- Crowd control (opening ceremony)
- Ceremonies support
- Children’s activities
- Merchandise
- Masseur/physiotherapist/podiatrist
- Mascot (costumes)
- LOLLYPOP crossing
- COVID-19 safety marshal
- Ground and venue pack up/clean up
There is no limit to the time you donate, and any help you can give would be appreciated. If you’d like to volunteer, please complete our Relay For Life West Coast Volunteer Form before Friday 1 October and the volunteer coordinator will be in touch.
If you have any further questions regarding volunteering at the event, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Amber Lewis, on volunteersrelaywestcoast@gmail.com.
Participate as a survivor and carer
Have you heard the words ‘you have cancer’ or cared for someone with cancer? Register as a survivor and carer. On the day, you’ll have the chance to meet fellow survivors and carers at the morning tea as well as the option to take part in our survivor and carer’s lap of honour. To register as a survivor or carer, head to Relay For Life West Coast and under Register, select ‘Survivor/Carer Lap’.
Make a donation
Not able to register this year? Donate to Relay For Life West Coast online. Every dollar is vital and will help us ensure no West Australian has to face cancer alone.
Cancer never rests, so neither should we. Will you join the Relay For Life movement and fight back this October?
