Work begins on $70m north Brisbane aged care home

Construction has begun at Rockpool Kedron, a new $70 million aged care home located eight kilometres north of the Brisbane CBD.

Chief Executive Officer, Melissa Argent said Rockpool Kedron will redefine the quality and standard of aged care available in north Brisbane.

“Innovation and sustainability will underpin Rockpool Kedron, which is perfectly located close to nearby shopping hubs and hospitals,” Ms Argent said.

“The 143-bed home will be comprised of thoughtfully designed and built communities which will each support between 15-30 residents.

“Incorporating a blend of room sizes and premium suites, the architecturally designed aged care home will boast several interconnected rooms and support couples who want to stay together.”

Residents will also have access to domestic kitchens for cooking, walking tracks, an on-site laundry, outdoor BBQs, a hair and beauty salon, and a fully equipped wellness and vitality centre, and an onsite café open to the community.

The site will be gas-free and powered by renewable energy, with a design that incorporates sustainable materials and practices to combat climate change and temperature fluctuations.

Building company, McNab, will construct Rockpool Kedron. McNab has previously won Best Aged Care Building in Queensland at the 2024 Master Builders Queensland Awards for Rockpool Pelican Waters.

Rockpool Kedron will provide residents with a range of care options including residential, respite, memory support and palliative care.
