Woolmar man, 62, charged with dangerous driving

Police have charged a 62-year-old Woolmar man over alleged dangerous driving offences around the Mackay and St Lawrence areas overnight.

It will be alleged by Queensland Police that at around 10.30pm, a vehicle crossed onto the other side of the road narrowly missing oncoming traffic while travelling northbound on the Bruce Highway, towards Carmila.

“No other vehicles were struck or members of the public injured during the incident,” Police said in a statement.

A short time later, the vehicle was pulled over and police arrested the male driver on the Bruce Highway at St Lawrence.

It will be alleged the driver tested positive to a roadside breath test, before returning a BAS of 0.182.

The has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, evasion, and driving UIL.

He is due to appear before Mackay Magistrates Court on November 19.
