Woman struck by her own stolen vehicle

A 66-year-old woman is fighting for life after she was run over by her own car during a carjacking incident at Berwick hospital in Melbourne’s south-east this morning.

It is understood the woman was accompanying her husband from their car to the hospital entrance on Kangan Drive around 10.45am when a man who had just exited the hospital jumped into the couple’s vacant car.

“The owner of the car saw this and has attempted to stop the man driving away, she was then struck by the moving vehicle,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

The Upper Beaconsfield woman was transported to a Melbourne hospital in a critical condition.

The offender and the stolen vehicle are yet to be located.

The car is described as a 2012 brown Ford Territory with registration DEX 581.
