Woman stabbed in Mascot home

A 49-year-old man will appear in court today charged after allegedly stabbing a woman in a domestic-related incident and assaulting a police officer in Sydney’s south yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a unit on High Street, Mascot, about 7.40pm on Sunday night after reports a woman had been assaulted.

A 44-year-old woman was treated at the scene for stab wounds, before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

A 49-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Mascot Police Station.

Upon arrival at the police station, the man allegedly struck a female constable to the head with his arms when he was exiting the police vehicle.

The man was charged with reckless wounding (DV), intentionally choke person without consent (DV), common assault (DV) and assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm.

Police will allege in court that the man and woman – who are known to each other – were involved in an argument and the woman was stabbed in the hand and buttocks. The woman then went into another room, before the man choked her.

He was refused bail to appear before Central Local Court today.
