An 82-year-old woman has died following a tragic accident involving a vehicle on the state’s north yesterday.
Police say that at around 3pm on Monday, emergency services were called to Moon Street, Ballina, following reports of an accident.
“Police were told an 82-year-old woman was getting into the passenger side of a parked Hyundai Getz when the car reversed and mounted a curb,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“The woman was thrown to the ground and suffered serious head injuries.”
She was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital, where she later died.
The driver – an 88-year-old woman – was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from Richmond Police District have commenced an investigation into the incident.
