Woman, 61 winched out of ravine

A 61-year-old Tasmanian woman has been winched out of a ravine in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Tasmania responded to the woman’s Personal Locator Beacon, which was activated in the Great Ravine area of the national park yesterday afternoon.

“A 61-year-old woman from Tasmania’s North-West was flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” the Westpac crew said.

“She had been part of a group kayaking on the Franklin River.”

No further information has been provided about the woman’s activities prior to the rescue.
