Wheelchair trailer theft charges laid

Two men have been arrested and charged over the theft of a wheelchair trailer from West Beach last month.

Police say that sometime overnight on Tuesday November 24, a white transport trailer was stolen from the driveway of a home in Cottesloe Street at West Beach.

“The custom built trailer and ramp is used by carers and is critical to transport an electric wheelchair from place to place,” SA Police said in a statement.

“Following an investigation, on Saturday 5 December, Northern District patrols arrested a 30-year-old Seaford man after he was located in a licenced premises at Mawson Lakes. He has been charged with theft.”

On Monday this week the stolen trailer was located at an in Parafield Gardens and seized by police.

Yesterday a second man, a 44-year-old from Parafield Gardens, was arrested and charged with theft. He was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on February 3.

“Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in the matter. The trailer will be returned to the owners,” SA Police said.
