Ute driver, 70, airlifted after head-on crash at Clement

Police are investigating a serious two-vehicle traffic crash which occurred on the Bruce Highway earlier today.

At 12.15pm, a dual cab towing a trailer which was travelling north when it collided head-on with a sedan travelling south at Clement.

“The sedan then caught alight and was extinguished by a truck driver in the area,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“He then pulled the 38-year-old driver from Mooroobool, who had sustained minor injuries, out of the vehicle.”

The 70-year-old driver of the dual cab, from West End, Townsville, was airlifted to Townsville University Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

Anyone with information or dashcam vision of the area is asked to contact Police.
