Two drivers have died following separate single-vehicle crashes in the state’s Riverina region overnight.
Police say that at around 8.30pm last night, emergency services were called to Merungle Road, Hillston, about 125km north east of Griffith, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
“Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District attended after a Toyota Hilux utility had reportedly left the roadway and rolled, ejecting the driver,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“The driver, a 44-year-old woman, died at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.”
In a second incident, emergency services were called to Oura Road, Wantabadgery, about 40km east of Wagga Wagga about 10.30pm last night, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
“Officers attached to Riverina Police District attended after a Toyota Landcruiser 4WD had reportedly left the roadway and hit a tree, before the driver was ejected,” NSW Police said.
The driver, a 55-year-old man, died at the scene.
“Police have commenced investigations into the circumstances of both crashes and will prepare reports for the Coroner.”
