Third motorcyclist fatality this year

A 68-year-old motorcyclist has died following a crash at Paracombe in the Adelaide Hills.

The Ridgehaven man is the third motorcyclist and the eighth life lost on the state’s roads this year, compared to nine at the same time last year.

Police say that just after 4pm yesterday, a motorcycle collided with the rear of a bus on Paracombe Road, just south of Tilmouth Road.

“The motorcyclist, a 68-year-old man from Ridgehaven received critical injuries in the crash. Despite desperate efforts by paramedics he sadly died at the scene,” SA Police said in a statement.

The bus driver and passengers were not injured in the crash.

Paracombe Road was closed for several hours while Major Crash investigators examined the circumstances surrounding the crash. It was reopened to all traffic at around 8.30pm last night.
