The new Queensland rules from 4pm today

Queensland COVID-19 restrictions will ease for residents across the state from 4pm today.

The number of guests permitted at social gatherings will increase from 40 to 50, while hospitality venues and other indoor venues will be allowed to hold twice as many people, with one person per two square metres now permitted.

Up to 200 people will be able to attend a wedding, and dancing will be allowed.

Funeral attendee numbers will also increase – with up to 200 now allowed.

Seated, ticketed indoor venues like theatres, cinemas and indoor sporting venues will be able to operate at 100% capacity provided masks are worn on entry and exit and a COVID plan is adhered to – this announcement comes just in time for Wednesday night’s State of Origin decider in Queensland.

Other outdoor events will be permitted to have up to 1,500 attendees.

Dancing at outdoor music festivals and in pub beer gardens is also now allowed under the government’s revised COVID rules.

Students at boarding schools have also been told they can sleep over at a friend’s house on weekends or during school holidays; while families and loved ones of people receiving residential mental health care, or at a residential drug and alcohol service, will be able to visit from 4pm today.
